The front of this dollhouse is open, so you can look into the rooms. The upper floor has an armchair, a small table and a round-topped window. The lower floor has another armchair and a door. A pitched roof with a chimney covers the top.
Ideas for coloring
- Give each room a different wall colour.
- Colour the chairs in a pattern with stripes or dots.
- Use wood brown for the floors and the frame.
- Draw a rug or a picture on the wall.
A room by room view
A cutaway drawing helps you see how rooms are arranged inside. Architects use similar drawings called sections. Ask which room might be a bedroom and which a sitting room, and colour them to match.
It can also be used as a copying exercise: ask a child to draw one more piece of furniture in an empty corner of a room.
