For parents & teachers
This easy coloring page shows a flag waving in the breeze, with a cluster of stars in the top corner and long stripes flowing to the right. The simple, bold lines make it a great first coloring project for little hands. Print it out for a quick patriotic activity, a classroom warm-up, or a fun addition to a holiday craft. Kids can fill in the flag and then cut it out to make a hand-held flag for a parade or a display on the fridge.
Coloring ideas
- Use bright red and blue crayons for the classic flag colors, or try a rainbow version with a different color for each stripe.
- Color the stars yellow or gold to make them stand out against the blue corner.
- Add a light blue or gray wash behind the flag to suggest a sky, and draw a few clouds around the edges.
- Use a marker to color the flagpole brown or silver.
Flag facts for little learners
The stars on the flag represent the 50 states, and the 13 stripes stand for the original 13 colonies. After coloring, ask your child to count the stripes together, or have them trace the shape of a star with a finger on the paper before coloring it in.
