This is the simplest frog page on the site. The frog sits upright facing forward with two big round eyes on top of its head, a single line for its mouth and two small nostril dots. Its hands rest at its sides and its feet are drawn large and wide.
There are only a handful of areas to colour, and each one is big, so it suits toddlers and preschoolers who are still building control. A chunky crayon or a washable marker works well.
Ideas for coloring
- Colour the whole body green and add a lighter green belly in the centre.
- Leave the eyes white with a dark pupil, or try gold, which is common in real frogs.
- Let the child choose any colour for the frog, such as red or blue, and talk about why.
- Add dots or stripes on the body with a second crayon.
About frog eyes
A frog’s eyes sit high on its head so it can see above water while most of its body stays hidden. A frog can also pull its eyes down into its head, which helps push food down its throat when it swallows. Frogs are good at spotting movement, which is how they find flies.
