A goalie stands square to the viewer in front of the goal frame. The drawing includes the cage-style mask, the chest protector, the catching glove on one hand and the wide leg pads that cover almost the whole lower body. The net behind him is drawn as a simple frame so the figure stays the main shape.
Ideas for coloring
- Give the pads and glove a bold colour so they stand out against a lighter jersey.
- Colour the mask frame silver or grey and keep the face area pale.
- Use red for the goal posts, as on a real rink.
- Try a pattern on the pads, such as stripes along the straps.
Good to know
The goaltender is the only player whose equipment is allowed to be much larger than normal, because the job is to block a hard rubber puck. Leg pads are stiff and wide enough to cover the gap near the ice. A goalie wears a mask that protects the whole head, and many players paint their own design on it.
