This page shows a single hockey player leaning forward as he skates, with the stick held low in both hands. He wears a helmet with a visor, a loose jersey, padded gloves and long skates. The outlines are thick and the shapes are large, so the page works well for younger children who are still learning to stay inside the lines.
Ideas for coloring
- Pick two team colours and use them for the helmet, the jersey and the socks.
- Colour the stick a light wood brown and the gloves a darker shade.
- Leave the ice white, or draw pale blue scratches behind the skates to show speed.
- Add a number in your own style on the back of the jersey if you like.
Good to know
Ice hockey players push off the ice with the edge of the blade, not the flat of it. Skates are sharpened so that each blade has two thin edges with a shallow groove between them, which is what lets a player turn sharply and stop quickly. Helmets, gloves and shin guards are standard equipment at every level of the game.
