A small house with a pitched roof sits in the fork of a large tree. A ladder leans against the trunk, and a small porch with a rail runs around the front. The wide crown of the tree is drawn with many rounded bumps for leaves.

Ideas for coloring

  • Colour the leaves in several greens and add a few yellow leaves.
  • Use warm brown for the trunk and the house.
  • Colour the ladder a lighter wood tone.
  • Add a bird or a squirrel on one of the branches.

Building in trees

Real treehouses are fixed with large bolts rather than nails so the tree can keep growing. Strong trees like oak and beech are chosen because their branches carry weight well. The ladder gives a safe way up.

Fine pencils or markers work well for the leaves, while the trunk and the ladder are easier with a thicker crayon.
