A round bowl holds a heap of chopped fruit. The pieces are large and angular, so each one can be coloured a different colour. A spoon sticks out of the middle with its handle pointing up and to the left.

Ideas for coloring

  • Decide what fruits are in the salad and colour each chunk to match: red for strawberry, orange for melon, green for kiwi, yellow for pineapple.
  • Keep neighbouring pieces in different colours so they stand out.
  • Colour the spoon in silver-grey or a bright plastic colour.
  • The bowl could be glass, so leave it light, or choose a bold colour.

Good to know

A fruit salad is made by cutting several kinds of fruit into bite-size pieces and mixing them. Cutting fruit into pieces is a good way to practise sharing, because one fruit can serve several people. Ask your child to name five fruits they would put in the bowl and to count the chunks they can see in the drawing.
